i am using virtex 5 FPGA.
i am facing a problem regarding serial data communication.
first i have to send serial data from PC to FPGA then i have to send serial data from FPGA to PC.
please help me.

Take a look at THIS POST. Try to ignore all the blather that follows my post. This design works well for transmitting from the computer's RS232 port to the FPGA on a prototype board, and uses the same method of nearly all synthesizable UART cores. Keep in mind that there is a voltage translator chip on the board that sources 0-5V. If you don't have then, then you will need to add one to your FPGA.
