Ok I have an old Grundig TK 146 mono Reel to Reel recorder from the 60´s. It´s in very good mechanical shape.

Since the head has two independent tracks , my idea would be to connect the heads to a standard stereo cassete deck in order to transform it into a stereo unit.

Any ideas ?

Yes, You can do this. (My first stereo was the same :) )
Play mode not a problem, but for recording maybe need modifying the bias cct depending from head impedance.
