I filled in the specs for your chip. If you use the crummy PCB strip antennas, they are lucky to be as good as a theoretical "isotropic" antenna.
If you want to go point to point, you could probably find Yagi antennas that have a gain of +15 to +20dbi for both RX and TX. Dont forget to account for coax loss if using remote antennas.
