How difficult is it to take a 0-5KHZ signal range down to a 0-500HZ range? The effective peak to peak voltage is 5v. Problem is the software that reads this has a max range of 500HZ. So I need to divide it by 10 and still have it read in a meaningful way. It is an optical sensor that ouputs the revolutions of a high speed wheel. The software is supposed to read this in RPMS. But the two are too far off to read effectively. Is there a simple circuit (like what I read in another thread called a CD4024BE) that can be programmed to do this? If so, what are the calculations to get the speed pulse down.
