Still in school and have a project trying to create a Frequency Synth with the following specs: 10 channel, 100kHz spacing, operating at 47.9 MHz-48.9MHz. anyone able to help. Need to use a VCO, CMOS chips and crystal.
 
A brute force PLL, where the phase/freq comparison is done at 100Khz, would do it. You need a 100Khz reference frequency (could be derived from a 1MHz or 10MHz oscillator with decade counters), a Vco running at the 48MHz range, a programmable frequency divider that divides by 479 to 489, a phase/freq comparator, and a loop filter.
