I've got a 18F2550 with a bootloader running. I'm trying to program it using an arduino. I came across this https://sites.google.com/site/thehighspark/arduino-pic18f which is supposed to program the 18F series using an arduino.

I can program the 18F4550 successfully, but not the 18F2550.

I've double and triple checked the connections. The programmer gets stuck at "Connecting to the chip"

Has anyone used this program? Any ideas of what I can try?

Could it be something on PIC causing problems? Im sure if I get a blank 18f2550 it might work but I dont have one.
I know its not a faulty PIC as if I startup the chip in bootloader mode I can use picdem and can see the microcontroller.
