I want to replace step down transformer with a electronic circuit , ie with few transisters and resistors etc. 240v need to be stepdown to 12v. Is it possible to do it without steo down transformer. I would be much appreciated your idea.:?

It's possible, but usually only for very low currents, and the entire circuit will be live. What are you wanting to feed, and how much current does it take?.
