Sorry gentlemen, I must be in the wrong forum since nobody seems to grasp the simplicity of the issue - except maybe kubeek. It's "a" supply (as in likely <10), 2000W max (not Gigawatts) and, although not stated, I don't need .001% regulation. So.....last night I threw a supply together with a $150 toroid rated 1000W, a Fairchild 25A bridge rectifier that I found in my junk box and six 15000uf electrolytics (plus a heat sink and a few extra components mostly to limit surge current) and viola! I'm good for approx 40V @ 20A with really low ripple. Tomorrow I'll see what it does under load and play around with improved regulation. I do thank you all for your input.
