Power Supply and Multiple Projects

Hi all,
My power supply has one 5V regulated output @500mA. I assume I can run multiple projects from the same power supply providing I don't exceed the 500mA ie signal generator with a pulse counter and a PIC or is it better to have multiple power supplies for the different boards?
The signal generator, pulse counter and PIC all run off 5V.
( Just another Newbie dumb question!)

One power supply is fine, providing all equipment uses the same ground connection (usually the negative rail).
