My daughter is coming over your way for Xmas & is wondering about charging her phone/camera/Ipod etc. There are two different adaptors available , two pin & three pin. Am I correct in guessing she will only need the two pin ?

Yes, for a power adapter / charger, you only need the two-blade model. The third contact (usually a round pin) is earth ground.

If you look up "NEMA plug" on Wikipedia (LINK), they show a photo of four outlets - the various outlets a person will likely encounter in North America (second photo down). In that photo, the leftmost outlet is the most common here in the States. However, a two-blade, 120v 60Hz adapter will work in any of them.
