positive voltage out from rectifier with diode

I was looking at a simple comparator opamp circuit that had a diode on it's output to allow only positive voltage values out. This made sense but what I did not understand is why there is a resistor to gnd right after this. It was a peak detector then there should be a capacitor there too afaik.

Can anyone explain this?
