And a npn BJT that is in forward active state has IC = β*IB?

PNP and NPN both have IC = β*IB.

IE=(β+1)*IB, in both cases.

I'm hoping you meant to post this as a question as opposed to fact.

NPNs and PNPs have identical small-signal models. Why would you think they would be different?

Sorry. Yes, you are correct. In small signal, ic = β*ib.
