Inverted power and free conveyors, for the most part are covered by flooring except for the path of the conveyor chain. When a trolley jams in the conveyor track, the conveyor's drive will trip its overload relay and consequently production stops until it is repaired. Sometimes up to a half hour of production is lost as the skilled tradesmen search for the jammed trolley.
I'm thinkin' that the location of that jammed trolley can be found by measuring the spring in the conveyor chain. If the measuring device indicates a stiff chain, the jam would be close by. If the chain was very springy, the jam would be far away.
