playing short wav files on microcontroller

Got a question about playing wav files with a microcontroller.

i'm searching for a design which can play short wav files
these wav files must programmed by rs232.

thinking about a microcontroller with a external eeprom or flash? and after programming will going through a DA converter?

maybe someone got a simple idea / design ?

i'll seached on several sites but i can't find a design which fits the specs.

it must be realised in a short time, so i'll hope someone can help me
