Hey everyone i just got my hands on one of these PIC32's i want to see what its about heh...

I see this one i can use my PICKIT 2 to program but dont really know where to start.

Some questions i have:

Should i use MPLAB X or MPLAB 8?
Can i debug this with pickit 2 ?
Is there anything special i should know before making a PCB for this ?

Hi Atom,

I would stick with MPLAB 8 (because MPLAB X is still in beta stage) unless you have to (using linux, etc).

According to MPLAB, you cannot program or debug this chip with a PicKit 2 but YMMV.

AFAIK there's nothing special before making a PCB except for the usual stuff.

I can program via pickit 2 software i bet heh but id rather get a pickit 3 tho. Im sure ima have to debug in the future.
Thanks for your time and input... Very much appreciated

When in doubt I always have a look MPLAb 8.63

That chip is in the pickit2 device file used by the standalone pickit programmer application. You should therefore be able to program it using the pickit 2 without any problems.
