Pic16f690 - MCP23x17-LCD circuit

Hello, i built a temperature sensor circuit that inputs an analog temperature to pic16f690 and turn it to digital, than outputs to the pc using USART communication. Now i would like to add a port expander and send this value using SPI communication protocol to a port expander which is the MC23S17 and display it on an LCD. I am confused on how to define the clock and the SDI and SDO on the pic side, i know that i should connect them straight to the port expander.

Are you using the SPI module or bit-banging SPI?
