In the Datasheet of the PIC 16F62x .. I read that you must turn off comparators to enable digital input ..

Isn't the digital Input enabled by default ??

& what are the comparators used for ??

No. On power-up the comparators are on by default. You have to turn them off (CMCON = 7)

They produce a digital output that depends on the analog input voltages and the comparator module configuration (see figure 10.1)
