Hello all

I am just wondering whether PCB transformers normally has an intergal rectifier in it so that hey output DC rather than AC?

Because my supervisor believes they have, but I phoned up RS a few times and they told me they only output AC. though, you dont every use AC on a PCBs so why would then they add a rectifer in the PCB transformer?

thank you so much for your time

I don't recall ever seeing a PCB mounted transformer with a built in rectifier. Rectification is usually done by diodes mounted on the PCB at the secondary of the transformer.

That's not to say they don't exist, I'm sure they do. I just don't think they are nearly as common as the standard AC in - AC out transformer.
