Dear forumers,

Here I would like to know is there any FREEWARE PCB layout designing software??

Thnx

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago. PCB123 seems to be the easiest to use (although I'm a quick learner when it comes to programs like these), and it's got a lot of functions.

i would very much like to use the Eagle software ..
could somone give me a run down on how it operates..???

There are some tutorials for Eagle out there. I don't remember which one I used, but you really need to step through some tutorial. The interface is just not intuitive at all. Still, now that I'm used to it, I love working with it.

I know... if it didnt get such good reviews by yall i would have given up on it...

It's fairly powerful, and the Autorouter is a relatively good one. Go to https://www.olimex.com and get https://www.olimex.com/pcb/8mils.dru and https://www.olimex.com/pcb/10mils.dru ; they're good design rule checkers for Eagle.

It's not without quirks- copying parts from one library to another is painful. But it's outnumbered by features that DO work well.

It doesn't crash. This is a big plus, try Protel (crapware with far more spent on sales/marketing than on engineering) and you'll see what I mean.

go to Options then go to User Interface and then in the controls section check the command buttons.

i hope that helps.

btw thanx for the link. it looks like a nice tutorial. but i will suggest that you also download the tutorial and manual from the cadsoft website

Can PCB123 output the drill/gerber files needed to produce the board?

jrz126 .. i have no idea ..sorry..

Well this blows, I spent the past month using pcb123 to create my schematic and layout. Now I dont think I can output the drill files that I need. my dad would be able to put it on a CNC machine at work to drill the thousand holes that I need. BUT he needs the drill files to be able to do so. (just X,Y coords of all the holes). I could do it by hand but it would be very timeconsuming and I know that on hole number 997 I would screw up and break the board. So does anyone know of an easy way to get the hole coordinates? Is there an easy way to convert my PCB123 netlist to an ExpressPCB netlist format?

The day just keeps getting worse....
