partial rotation trim pots, or such?

I'm looking for a way of measuring just a few degrees of rotation, and as always, on the cheap. Does anyone know of any products that are about as accurate as your average trim pot, but are specialized for only about 45 to 90 degrees of rotation? Thanks!

Perhaps you could find a cheap (Goodwill?) analog joystick and take out the pots. These usually are small rotation-angle pots. That said, I don't think you will find then any more "accurate" than just using the first 45 to 90 degrees of a ordinary pot.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Simple, use a normal pot and gear it up.

Hero's idea is a good one. Just make sure you use a good quality POT if the there is going to be a lot of movement as the POT will wear out quickly especially if the movement is in one spot on the POT.
A better solution is a geared up shaft encoder out of an old mouse and will last much longer.
