Parallel port PIC programmer

Hello,

I am going to build this https://www.oshonsoft.com/picprog.html parallel programmer for pic. The question is: can I replace the logic buffer chip 74LS06 with 7406N I have? I looked the datasheets and most of the parameters seem to be the same, the exact buffer schematics differ a bit however.

What do you think?

The important thing is that it needs to be open-collector, the 7406 should be fine.
