If you are talking about the
MCD-2 PIC In Circuit Debeugger (ICD-2)

It is an USB ICD2 clone rather then a PICkit2 clone. Different but not enough for most people to care.

I prefer the PICkit2 style tool and suggest you stay with the clone.
