Hello

i want to make an overvoltage protection circuit for the 230V mains
but instead of varistors...or a circuit with thyristors...
i would like to try IGBTs if it is possible! i got one 600V/20A N-channel
but i don't know what to do since i got no idea how to use an igbt

can somebody help? :)

IGBTs are designed for fast high voltage switching, not this kind of thing.

Stick with varistors for this kind of application.
