Hi,

Have a micro whos inputs will be from other isolated devices so simple opto isolators are being used, as in the upper part of the diagram.

Have got other direct inputs like a simple switch but on some long cable (up to 2m) , typically switching 0v to a pulled up port ; wondering if directing it though one of the spare opto gates, as shown in the lower part of the diagram, would have any beneficial effect like filtering out noise, even though its powered by the micros circuit ?

Only to the extend that the frequency response of the opto may filter some of the high frequency noise.
