Off topic software question

My latest project uses webpages as the GUI.
I'd like to expand my capabilities with something like VB6, VB6.net,Visual Studio.net etc...(Non Bill Gates products also welcome.)
Any comments on which I should look toward as far as capabilities and degree of difficulty to learn and use.

Your post will get better responses on a software forum (this one is primarily hardware) or at least post in the microcontrollers section of this forum (there are alot of software guys hanging out there)

learn python. There a plenty of GUI modules as well (I like GTK myself) it is really easy to learn and write and it can be packaged down into an EXE+libs
