NOP question?

i just wanna know what is the fuction of NOP in programming PIC ?? for example, i have 5 NOP in row, then i want to make it become 4 only...what will happen?? what is the function of NOP here ???

It's usually to give a small time delay, one NOP is 1uS with a 4MHz clock. Presumably your routine is to give a 5uS delay (assuming a 4MHz clock).
