Nigel's & Peter's RF tutorial 12 question

Hi,

I'm currently studying these asm code (Nigel's tutorial 12 - RF Manchester coding) and trying to convert them to C. One thing i don't really understand is the variable IF_SHORT & FIRST_HALF. I really don't get the meaning of these variables however they are used in many places of the code. So i would like to make a clarification on these, are they:

FIRST_HALF = status flag defining first half of the pulse? ie. period -> pulse
IF_SHORT = status flag defining second half of the pulse? ie. pulse -> period

I manage to get the synchronizing bit at the start to work but will need to know the meaning of these variables to get further when extracting the data.

Thank you
