Hi All,

i m doing my first electronics project with following specs, can any one guide .Thanks.

Project name: wireless Temperature Monitoring System

project Description:

In situation like underground tunnels,it's important that we are able to measure tunnel temperature and know what is happening inside ,some times accidents or breakdowns can happen because of overheating resulting in damage of system or items inside the tunnel..

A wireless Temprature Monitoring System is safe and avoid any fatal accidents ,there are various wireless systems using IR,RF,..etc. the measured temperature will be transmit to remote monitoring station at regular intervals for suitable action,it will also trigger warning by means of audio/visual indicators.the project requires research on selection of suitable sensors /associated electronics ( micro controller is preferred) and also type of wireless communications.
based of the research findings need to design & implement the system meeting project requirement

any one can help to advice the better architecture for the above requirement .Thank you.

Regards,
Ajay.

Only if precautions are taken to avoid such things as preventing insertion/removal of batteries which might cause a spark, overheating of components, excessive RF power generation, etc.

One problem with RF Wireless you will face is "Underground Tunnels". RF doesn't fare too well underground.

Generally for tunnels such as mines and underground trains the antenna system comprises of "Leaky Feeders", which can be 100's of metres in length.

A possibility for distance transmission would be to use a frequency that would allow the tunnel to act as a sort of waveguide. Here is an article on that. You would, of course, need the receiver to be in the tunnel.

Have you noticed Carl's suggestion as to use in a tunnel?

That said, if you wish to use an Arduino then I suggest you read this link. Scroll down to Input/Environmental Sensing with a focus on temperature. Next scroll down to Communication and read WiFi and Wireless.

How many sensors do you need? What is the max required distance for the RF link? The wireless link you are looking at is only good for less than 100 feet and one sensor.
