need a reliable metal dector

does anybody know where i could find a metal dector circuit that is reliable and accurate? please help me!!!

PS: i lost my brother's knife in my yard but i don't know where it is.

If you knew where it was, then it wouldn't be lost.

Do a Google search for "metal detector schematic". Make sure you spell each word correctly.
 
A bit of an overkill to just find a knife, but there are 2 good PI detectors in my projects. Hopefully you can use it to find other stuff.

maybe dragging a large magnet across the yard will be a lower cost, less development approach. Harbor freight sells a 100Lb pull magnet for about $8 US. Might be a good shoulder strength exercise as well :wink:

Chemelec: Regarding your Electro-etching process: What kind of ink are you using for the etch resist? Sharpie?
