Hi!

Can a sealed lead-acid type battery be mounted in any angle? i.e. that it hasn't be mounted with top side up? I ask because the battery I have is very tall, and that doesn't go well with getting the center of gravity low. Now if it could be mounted sideways it would help alot.

This type of battery:

I've seen them mounted on their sides in low current applications but I'd be wary about doing this for anything which might cause any venting (high charge/high discharge).

Used in mobile/portable equipment I have seen them used and recharged in all 3 planes without any problems.

In addition to 'picbits' points, make sure the battery lugs dont contact any metal surfaces.
