Nearly all of the forums have had reduced activity over the past 7 or 8 years. A few are simply dead with activity now when they were pretty popular at one time. Some have disappeared entirely, some of them originally the most active on the Web. The only "electronicy" forum where I see increased activity is the one for antique radios at https://www.antiqueradios.com and it's a specialized forum rather than one for general hobbyist electronics.
The next most popular one, in my opinion, would be www.allaboutcircuits.com.
There membership is less than 1/2 of electro-tech.
But (and somebody correct me if I'm wrong), they're probably related to this site. It has a similar "look and feel" as electro-tech (eerie). But it's another forum with different topics and discussions.
