MOSFET configuration

I got this design of AC to AC regulator, and was wonderig why do the Gates of the MOSFETs there remain unconnected.

Looks like the diagram was never finished to me.

Yea, looks like a partial or theory diagram to me too.

Clearly, MOSFET gate missed the input signal.

In textbooks, is common practice to leave things out, to reduce the clutter. Obviously that schematic shown is only drawn to analyze the current and voltage relationships in the main power circuit.

The unconnected gates go to a switch mode power supply ic.
