mini sensitive amplifier

need help for my project!..i'm already done with my project but i am not satisfied with the outcome..my project only detects short range sounds,,i want it to detect longer range..pls help!

You forgot to tell us the details of your project and attach its schematic so we cannot help you.

Maybe it has a microphone. Dynamic or electret? Does it have a parabolic dish?
Maybe it has a preamp? How much gain?
Maybe it has a power amp? How much gain and how much power?
Maybe it has a speaker? What is the distance of the speaker to you?
Maybe it has headphones? What is their impedance?
Should we guess what you have?
