MIDI Triggered LEDS...... HELP!

Hello, my name is Paul.
What I'm trying to do is this....
There's a drum machine....
When the drum machine sounds, an led flashes on a pad with a designated note number.
How can I make a light module that connects from the midi in of a drum machine to trigger lights that you can plug in via 1/4" jack?

you can get prefab midi adaptor kits... but it sounds like you might want to use the midi out of the drum machine? Hit the drum trigger - make a light go on right?
