I want to build a microflash for use in high-speed photography. Here are the requirements...

1. The on-off operation needs to be low voltage as it'll be handled by a Quaketronics v4 trigger.

2. The flash will probably be an air-gap of about 3 inches. If I get inventive, I might use argon.

3. The arc must not be much longer than 1/1,000,000th of a second.

4. It must be lightweight and portable.

I came across this diagram and am thinking I might base my project on this:

I don't know much about electronics. Can somebody help me?
