method of detecting colour

Hi

Im looking into a method of detecting the colour of a small bead and distinguishing if it is one colour or another, this will them be fed into a microcontroller as a digital signal.

Is a light to voltage converter the device i should be looking at?

I had a TAOS TSL257 RS no 642-4430 in mind...

If you want your own lens setup (or none at all), you can also look for the TAOS TCS230 which is the colour sensor IC used in this thing.
