Papabravo Well-Known Member Feb 21, 2009 #3 Maybe not. The original MAX232 chip was a 5V part. If your AVR is running on a lower voltage, like say 3.3V, then you have to find a member of the MAX family that can make RS-232 levels from a 3.3V supply.
