I know how to make LEDs blink to music via a headphone cable, I know EL wire will be a little different but it seems there would be a way to hook up an inverter to headphone cable too? Or would I need a special inverter?

I just want a few strands of two different colors of EL wire, and maybe be able to make a few left-and-right audio specific. and be able to switch one or the other off and just have one going, and to be able to disconnect it and just have the lights constantly on.
I have this: https://www.amazon.com/Light-Pulse-...ds=light+pulse+audio+response+auxiliary+cable but blue. I don't like how with some music it stays constantly on because of smaller noises, I would like it to be less sensitive and blink to more drum-like beats, like my LEDs do.
I was wondering if I could remove the battery and connect an inverter to get longer EL wire, but that wouldn't fix the sensitivity.
Also are there any commercial inverters that would do that?
