Make LED's Steady Or Flash

completely new to this kind of stuff so be gentle. my company has a lighting product that we are looking to modify so it can be a steady light or flashing, right now it's just steady and I'm having trouble finding information about how to do this. I did a quick search on here before posting, hopefully I'm not doubling up a thread that I missed. My question is, is there a simple way to do this without changing too much of what we already have in place? Were trying to make it as inexpensive as possible. Our board is set up for 5mm two prong led's, being powered by two AA's with a push button switch.

You need to add an oscillator circuit that works from the low voltage of 1.8V to 3V and that has enough output current to power the LEDs.
I found this simple circuit in Google. It uses Oriental transistors but American or European transistors can replace them.
