Quick question, is a line filter the same thing as a noise filter you find in microwave ovens?
I would include pictures but device is being funny.

Pretty much, the idea being keeping noise from back feeding into the mains. Often embedded in the inlet power connector. That said a noise filter can also be a different configuration. Just as an example an audio noise filter. With noise filter we normally define the application where line filter pretty much is AC mains use. In the case of a microwave it prevents RF and noise from entering the AC supply line.
