The datasheet for the CD4017 from Texas Instruments and a few other semiconductor manufacturers show a circuit for cascading two 4017 ICs and it easy to add more.
Bill Bowden has lots of circuits on the web and one shows his way of cascading 4017 ICs using diodes instead of AND gates.
