First I'm sorry that I posted this request for my first post.
But the stress of doing a dissertation is as such.
I'm planning to build an autonomous lawnmower for my final year dissertation and I'll be using PIC 16F877A. The programming language that will be used is mikrobasic.
Has anyone ever done this project before?
I'll be needing all your precious help guys (technical reports will be more that welcome)?
Does anyone has idea how Friendly Robotics (Robomow) system works?
I need your precious help
Thanks a lot for your response
I want to do it like Robomow from Friendly robotics... using a bumper sensor, rain sensor and using a perimeter wire but I've got no clue how(because it's the first robot I've to build and that too for a dissertation). Here's the link

Hey Ericgibbs have you actually build that lawn mower robot that I've seen on youtube? Do you have technical reports and schematics?
Till March 2009
Still I want to do it in time and improve it because I have other modules examinations as well and classes everyday. Time will go by very quickly that's for sure. Thanks 3v0

Why are you confused? This is a complex project and it will take a lot of time. You have to develop and perfect the mechanics, electronics, and the programming.
Start by studying all the examples of DIY mowers that you can find. Play close attention to what did not work and why. Use that info to design the most basic unit you can get by with. Then after you have that working make it better by extending and modifying it.
Ok i'm gathering all tje info i can obtain from the net...anyone knows how to built the perimeter system friendly robotics uses for robomow (schematic)? A wire is place round the loop within which the lawn has to be mown and the robot mows inside this perimeter ...
Here in Mauritius no commercial invisible fence is on sale.
I would prefer building a DIY invisible fence( robocut used a buried wire fence while robomow a perimeter wire; I search a lot but did not get a schematic for that) and on the net all I am getting is DIY invisible fence battery. All the info I got from the net is the user manual of Robomow and a general idea of which components I should be using. Also I understood that a lot of universities in USA have done this project as part of a competition but I did get much of the technical info.
My problem is that I have not had a good touch with practical electronics and assembling all these is tedious.
