this IC (L297) drives a stepper motor

it can change the torque without using a series resistors


how does it do this, as i have usually used other ones that need resistors

but i would like to now the electronic involved which alows the chip to change the torque range without use of series resistors?

The IC has PWM capability to reduce the available current to the motor.
