KS0108B in 4-bit mode?

I'm just hooking up a KS0108B for the first time. Do they generally support 4-bit mode in the same way as character LCDs?

If not I think I'll have to use a shift register, these things take up pins!
 
Brilliant, thanks Pommie. I had checked the datasheet but a few websites I found suggested otherwise. A very hungry chip as far as pins are concerned!

I am now using your code to try and get it working, thanks very much for your other thread.
