i would like to make a Kelvin's Thunderstorm electrostatic genarator but all the cans i have to use as the inducers have a coating on the inside of them will this coating affect the preformance of the genarater????

the anti-rust coating of steel and aluminum cans shouldn't present a problem to the voltages described in this website:

I think steel cans are vinyl coated on the inside, breakdown voltage is only 1000 or 2000v (IIRC)
