and now I am relieved.
Ever since I accidently mixed 12V with 5V, I thought for a second there that my parallel port is permanently busted. It turns out that the cable I have been using has now turned into a culprit. When I tried other cables, all lines seem to work perfectly. I probably had that cable for a couple of years. I need to buy myself a new cable. I think they deliberately make wires in these cables to work at 5V and under. When I felt one end of the culprit cable, it was hot. I wonder if some wires were melting.
oh well, at least the port works.
Anyone want my bad cable? j/k
