.... will buy at Doller Tree.
It's amazing what you can get for a buck and a quarter at Dollar Tree.
This is a voice command (as opposed to speech recognition) USB-powered LED lamp. It's self-contained – no wifi or app required. It responses to five commands:
"Turn on the light"
"Turn off the light"
"Brighten the light"
"Dim the light"
"Change the color" (white, warm or both)
I don't believe it's doing speech recognition – it's looking for certain characteristics in those phrases. I hink this is similar technology used in the VCP200 voice recognition integrated circuit sold by Radio Shack in the 1980s – 10 bucks back then which is about $40 now. For a buck and a quarter.
It works ok-ish.
As
Clive says, I took mine apart so you don't have to. Not much to it – searching revealed nothing about the AF24C104254-6904 chip. It's the only active part on the board; there's nothing hiding on the bottom.
There is some hacking potential, like changing the color of the LEDs and there's plenty of room in the base to add a rechargeable battery.
It's a somewhat functional lamp that puts
out pleasing light.
