Is this display burned out? (Sony MD LCD Display)

I'll just get right to the question. Can anyone tell me if this display is burned out? The photos show the corner that has a dark spot.

It's not an LCD, it's a VFD (Vacuum Flourescent Display), the mark is simply where the getter charge was fired during manufacture.

Most faults on VFD's are in the supply to them, as it's a valve it requires a heater supply and a high voltage supply - usually one or the other is missing.
