Hi.. I'm in my final year Electronics and telecom engg..
I'm choosing my project as "Emotion detection in Speech"
and we will detect some basic emotions in speech.. like anger, laughter/happiness..
I searched the net n found some things very complicated... one paper even referred to a PhD...

Will this project be feasible at this level?

It certainly sounds a fairly challanging project, are you sure you can do it?.

I've noticed here over the years that a number of people seem to choose a final project based on it sounding good, with no regard to their capability of doing it.

Choosing a project isn't simple, but (as I see it) you really need to know what you're doing BEFORE you decide on it, and know HOW you're going to do it.

I know the procedure, like how to approach this... but frankly speaking, i'm almost an amateur in MATLAB.. can you suggest something simpler?

We were actually goin to work on just one emotion.. Anger..
Is this possible at least?

Coz our guide isnt ready to give us another project.. She says its possible and she would help.. but we have to concentrate on our studies as well..
So, as long sa we cant get a project of our own.. we're stuck with this.. we've even submitted our synopsis...
Please help.....

I've no idea how you would detect emotions in speech, is there a linguistics department you can ask for help from?.
