Im using a PIC to display a number on a seven segment.
I have an input that is either tied High or Low depending if the 7 segment display is common cathode or common anode. (changes the course of the program to display corresponding type output)
The pin will either be high or low, and wont be changed while the circuit is in operation.

Is it nesscessary to use a resistor to tie an input pin high?
Or is it ok to connect it straight to 5v?

If you connect it directly you must guarantee that the program never uses that pin as an output (even accidentally) .

of course.
The program is very straight forward and the I/O's are only defined once at the start so I shouldn't have any problems.
